Living The Dream!

Wow! It has been a long time since I've been on here to post a blog.

Just an update on me and the family. Let me start of by saying, "we are living the dream". It has been 1 year now since we've move to St. Louis and almost 2 years at SOS. I am very thankful that we were obedient to what God wanted for us. Sometimes it's hard to see that because we are still in the mode of transition.

We have been renting and that's tuff! We have owned our own home for 14 years and then we go to renting. Sometimes we often ask ourselves, "is this what it's going to be like?" Sometimes we put all of our success and security in our homes or things. One thing Erin and I have learn is that it's not about that. The reason I say we our living the dream is because we have a great church that we are apart of. We have great friends all around us. We have good jobs that are very flexible. We are all very healthy. All of our kids LOVE church and where we are. It doesn't get much better than that. This home, car and things we have and do are so temporary.

Our kids have had to change schools twice in the last 2 years. They have made great adjustments in doing this. They definitely like the last school better than this one and so do we. But they understand the bigger picture. All and all, things are great.

I will begin to write more and share thoughts on other things as time goes.

God is Good!

God is so good! We have now been at SOS Church for 6 months, living in Fenton for 2 months and things could not be better. It has been wierd adjusting to all the new things in our life but has been great.

I was reading my devotion this morning and stumbled upon something I think everyone should adhere to. It's found in Romans 4:16-25 We need to trust God even when things seem hopeless. Erin and I trust God in most everything, but there are those times when things seem hopeless. We all need to be reminded of what Abraham went through. This is when God needs us to trust Him, when things seem hopeless. See, God has a plan and purpose for everyone of us. He wants us to have money, he wants us to have good friends, nice car, joy, peace, and more importantly a relationship with Him.

The more time we spend with God the more we will be able to trust Him. Why? Because the more time you spend with someone the more you get to know them which means you will be able to trust them. Trust is by far very important and hard sometimes when it comes to God. We think there's no way this is going to happen but it does.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart's and rejoice. Also, the more time you spend with God the more your wants are going to become God's wants. Your desire for material things or wrong attitudes will change. You will want to become more like Him. This all takes discipline! Discipline is not easy! Start small, read for 5 minutes a day then work your way up to 10 and so on.

Things that are worth something have to be worked for, things that come easy are usually easy to get. Work at your relationship with God it will be worth it. Trust!

Simplify Our Life

Have you ever felt like your life is just so busy? Seems like the week went by so fast. Well it probably has. We tend to say yes to so many things that we sometimes over commit ourselves. Life is to short to be so busy. We need to "Smiplify Our Lifes" by saying NO!

We get so busy that we don't have time for God. We get so busy that we don't have time for our families. We get so busy that we don't enjoy the days we have off because we are so busy going and doing.

I am challenging you to take a week and do nothing, except go to work of course. You will find that when you do nothing you will feel bored! That's ok, we need to feel this way every once in a while. Take the time and spend it with God, find out if He's trying to tell you something. Enjoy what God has given you and thank Him for it. I'm not saying that you have to spend all day reading and praying but you could be thinking about Him most of the day and meditating on Him.

Learn to say, "NO"!

THE MOVE

Wow! I Can't believe we are actually moving out of St. Clair. I thought we would have been here for ever. It's amazing where you end up when you follow God. Erin and I have been attending the same church for 25 years. We have been helping and serving in this church for 15 years. The last 4 years have been the most involved. I was the youth pastor/administrator and drummer. Erin, of course is the worship leader.

God had been dealing with us for many months, but felt like we were putting Him on the back burner. We thought it was just some things we were dealing with rather than the big change that He had for us. One day we finally made the decision to move on and continue serving but just in another location.

This is where things get crazy. We visited many churches but none we could agree on until that day. This was the day we visited SOSchurch.tv, this was the day we knew where God wanted us to be. We had so many people ask us, so where are you going? We had no idea until this day. God told Abraham go! Abraham asked God where am I going? God said, "you'll know when you get there". Wow! This was exactly what happened to us.

We have slowly built credibility with our new Pastor and church leadership. If you have ever been in the church leadership realm then you would understand this. We have heard and seen a lot of people come in and say, " I am the worship director at are old church" or I have been a youth pastor at are old place for the last 8 years". Usually when this happens your guard goes up. They want to jump in and start serving where they left off. We wanted to get to know people and of course build credibility with people. Our heart is to serve and if this is what God wanted then He would make room for us.

Now we are at a new season in our life. Things are working out great where we are and now that this has all happened, we are moving closer. This is all in God's plan. I wanted to move 13 years ago when Erin and I got married but she said she was not moving away from her family. Little did she know that God had a different plan. I believe since I was a good listening husband at that time and was very patient. Things worked out! I have learned so many things being involved at Victory. (name of our home church) I would not have changed anything. You don't go through things not to learn or experience life for no reason. I believe God was preparing us for this new change.

In saying all of this my wife also has been a great house wife or homemaker for 13 years. She was approached to apply at Joyce Meyer Ministries for an Administrative Assistant/Conference Coordinator position. There were many applicants with more experience than she had. We prayed about it and agreed that she apply. Remember, she has not worked outside the home since High School. This was a big big change for us. Two weeks later, she gets the job. This has been a blessing for us since I am self employed. Not only does the money help but the benefits are great!

We move June 15th into our new home in Fenton, MO. We are so excited but of course a little scared at the same time. We have been trusting God in this whole life change experience and things seem to be working great and smooth.

My advice is Trust God in all things, lean on His understanding and not yours. Sometimes we let out feelings and ideas get in the way of what God wants. Sometimes what God wants is not always what we want. Sometimes it is uncomfortable to do what He is asking us to do. You have to get on the wave and ride it until you land where He wants you to.

We love everyone who has been supporting us in this whole life change and move. Please continue to pray for our journey with Him.

Memorial Day

I had a great weekend this Memorial Day. Visited family on Sunday and went to the Cardinal game. The Cardinals lost to the Brewers but it was a great time taking my 2 boys and wonderful wife.

I want to thank all who have served and are currently serving our military. It is a great honor to be able to be free here in the U.S. and be able to do what we do. We could not do it without the sacrifice that has been made. THANK YOU!

I'm new to the Blogging World

Well, I am trying to figure this whole blog thing out. It's going to take so time so bare with me until I get it. I really think this is a cool way to stay in touch and network with other people around you. I can share what's on my mind and get it out there for someone to be blessed or to get them thinking about what I believe.
